My love for art began as a young boy growing up in Fort Myers, Florida. As a comic book fan in the early 70's, I remember studying and recreating the characters and artwork, the scenes and backgrounds.
Growing up in a poor family, my parents could not afford paints and artist supplies. So I used whatever I could get my hands on. Pens and pencils were the first medium I used on the backs of mail flyers. Then I switched to my bedroom walls, which served as the wide canvas.
One of my earliest memories is of a moment while sitting in church with my mother Eunice. I used the back of a church flyer to pencil a dove when I should have been listening to the sermon. But at five years old, I was more interested in what was going on in my head than what the pastor was saying. After I finished the drawing, my mother took the picture and studied it. At first, I thought I was in trouble, but instead of being angry, a smile washed over her face as she looked down at me and whispered,
"You are going to be a great artist Henry!" That one moment of encouragement was all it took for me to pursue my passion...
Over time, my zeal was transformed from rough sketches on walls and the backs of flyers, into innovative and award winning architectural designs of luxury residences.
Architecture is the art form that chose me.
The greatest expression of every individual is what we call the home. It’s where the things we treasure can be shared with friends and family and it must express our own individual style.
Whether it's a new construction or a remodel, these interactions are conveyed through the execution and attention to details you deserve. A practice you may not initially observe, but one that's reflected in the finished product.
Ultimately a truly personal and beautiful expression of yourself.
